Start 2016 by watching old footage of Jerry Slabe and more on WCIA

If you’ve been around Champaign-Urbana long enough, surely you remember WCIA anchors Jerry Slabe and Marta Carreira, who left the station after NEXSTAR bought it from Midwest Television in 1999.

The whole thing devolved into a legal battle that took several years to finalize, and in the end, the company had to pay them $365,000 in a settlement.

But that’s sort of boring in the face of checking out the graphics and old news programs that exist in this video.

A childhood of watching M*A*S*H after the Channel 3 news at night still permeates my memories, and this time of year, post-holidays, I tend to be more sentimental than at any other time.

Enjoy!
