Station Theatre announces auditions for White People

The Celebration Company at the Station Theatre announces auditions for the first production of their 42nd season. Auditions for the drama WHITE PEOPLE, by J.T. Rogers, directed by Joel Higgins, will be held August 25 and 26 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Station.

About the play: “This controversial and darkly funny play centers on the lives of three average Americans from all walks of life, placing their attitudes toward race under a glaring spotlight. Through intimate and heart-wrenching confessions, they wrestle with guilt, prejudice, and the price they and their children must pay for their attitudes and actions.”

The play will run October 3-19, and auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Casting three roles:

Alan Harris–Early thirties, a college History professor. Not quite recovered from a severe trauma that recently befell him and his wife, Sarah.

Mara Lynn Doddson–Thirties/forties, a working-class southern woman from North Carolina, mother to a severely epileptic child, and the wife of an ignorant and cheating spouse.

Martin Bahmueller–Late forties/fifties, relatively affluent attorney, currently in St. Louis. Obstinate and stubborn, a throwback to a “simpler time” who clings to those ideals even though society has moved on. His adherence to his worldview results in devastating consequences for himself and his family.
