This weekend is the Champaign Urbana Theatre Company’s sixth annual Penguin Project production. The Penguin Project is a national program originally founded in Peoria, IL. Each year, an adapted version of a Broadway musical is staged by artists aged 10-21 who take part in the program. The performers all have developmental disabilities and are joined on stage by “peer mentors” the same age without disabilities. The group works together through months of rehearsals and the final performance.

This year’s production is Finding Nemo Jr., based, of course, off of the Pixar movie of the same name. The musical will last 60 minutes, and tickets can be purchased online.
