On October 5th, there is going to be a film screening of the 2022 documentary The Price of Conflict at Spurlock Museum. The film is directed by Volodymyr Sydko, and “is dedicated to the economic aspects of the Russia-occupied Donbas. It studies the situation at specific Ukrainian enterprises and single-industry cities that worked in the past with now occupied areas of Donbas.” The screening will open with remarks by the film’s producer, Polina Herman.

The following evening, there will be a piano recital with acclaimed Ukrainian pianist Pavlo Gintov. Gintov made his debut at the age of 12 at the Kyiv Philharmonic Hall. He holds a Doctor of Musical Art degree from the Manhattan School of Music, and is the winner of several international competitions.

The events are part of the Dmytro Shtohryn International Ukrainian Studies Conference, hosted by the Slavic Reference Service and the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Illinois.
