There’s a cool new mural on Third Street in Campustown

Smile Student Living has added to the list of murals they’ve had painted on Campustown apartments, as part of their Smile for the Arts initiative. Last summer, artist Rafael Blanco created the “Dance On Illinois” mural at 804 Illinois Street, intentionally placed near Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, the School of Music, the Department of Dance — the performing arts side of campus. In November, muralist Brett Whitacre created “Hue-man Engineering” at 608 E White Street, near the Engineering campus.

The lastest addition to their mural collection features the Marching Illini, and is just a short jaunt from the band’s practice fields. The mural is being painted by Koda Witsken.

They’ve commissioned multiple murals for the interior of their offices at The Flamingo as well, including this one by former SP editor Cameron Raab.
