Thirsty Thursday: Mango habanero margarita at Maize Mexican Grill

Warm weather makes me carve margaritas. And on this warm Thursday, I’m thirsty for one of my favorite margaritas: Maize’s mango habanero margarita. Made with 100% blue agave tequila and Naranja liqueur, this beaut of a marg tastes spicy, fruity, and boozy. With a salty-spicy Tajin-lime rim, the margarita starts all bright with tropical mango and sour, fresh-squeezed lime. But then, muddled fresh habanero comes in with an addictive, fiery heat that stings and counterbalances the juicy sweetness of the drink’s fruit.

If preferred, this mango margarita can be made without spiciness, with a salt rim and sans habanero pepper. Maize has other margarita flavors, too, like classic lime, pineapple, cucumber-lime, and more — all with an option to be made spicy with fresh jalapeño or habanero peppers.

The private patio or the large dining rooms at Maize at The Station are both good spots for a couple margaritas and delicious Mexican food. I love the appetizer sampler — especially when it’s half-off during happy hour.

For more info, check out the restaurant’s website or follow Maize on Facebook.
