Today on SP Radio: Residents of the 5th and Hill neighborhood

Today on SP Radio (5:30 p.m on 90.1 FM or weft.org):

The 5th and Hill neighborhood was once home to a manufactured-gas plant that at one time released toxins into the local water supply. The cleanup of the site had been a controversial issue in recent years, culminating a few weeks a go with a Champaign City Council meeting with residents begging the city to repeal a groundwater ordinance that they say provided current owner, Ameren, a loophole out of cleaning neighboring properties. We’ll talk with residents and representatives from the Champaign County Health Care Consumers about recent revelations, CCHCC lawsuit against the city of Champaign and the residents ongoing efforts to bring more clean-up efforts to the area.
