Tonight at Boardman’s: Vintage cars, dancing, and Public Enemy

An e-mail from Greg Boardman reads:

To kick off Public Enemies we are planning a great time at Boardman’s! Three to five 1920-1930’s automobiles will be parked curbside in front of the theatre tonight.

The cars are coming from the Illini Collector Car Club (authentic antiques) and Prairie A’s (model A’s and Model T’s.) Tonight, automobiles will be on display from approximately 4 until 7:30 p.m.

Step back in time for a great time. Concession specials, staff dressed up, lots of atmosphere!

Dancers from the C-U Swing Society (danced in the film!) will dance in the auditorium from 6:30 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. Come talk with them about their filmmaking experience on the set of Public Enemies!

Some of you know I love this period; the cars, the clothes, the theatres! This film is directed by Michael Mann. One reviewer said: “Public Enemies gun battles erupt with sudden, visceral force — never more so than in a woodland shootout between Purvis’ FBI hit squad and Dillinger’s crew, lensed by Mann at the infamous Little Bohemia Lodge where it actually took place. Hot lead thwacks into tree bark. Desperate breath and muzzle smoke fill the night air.”

The realism of my exclusive digital sound system will make you feel as if you are there. You’ve been warned.

Enjoy! Greg
