A huge maple gave up Sunday evening. Tired of waiting for rain, the enormous tree cast away an entire third of its greatness.
The massive limb took out a block’s worth of power lines, running between Anderson & Webber streets, from Fairlawn to Washington. Hundreds of Ameren customers were without power for hours. In fact, I’m writing this on battery, and using someone’s wi-fi from across the street, I guess. Thanks neighbor!
I’m acquainted with the owner of the fallen tree. After equipping him with a box of candles, and a book of matches; I took a movie of the damage.
It’s now 12:37 am and the chainsaws just started up again. It won’t wake anyone here, but I’d hate to have a bedroom on Webber Street.
