On May 12th, at the Champaign County Community Coalition Walk as One event, United Way of Champaign County is launching their new early childhood initiative — Read, Talk, Play, Everyday! This is a year-round campaign that will “provide free resources, information, and encouragement to help caregivers and children in east-central Illinois commit to reading, talking, and playing together daily.”
On Thursday, volunteers will distribute kindergarten readiness kits to residents in several Champaign, Urbana, and Rantoul neighborhoods. They are still looking for help with this. You can sign up online if you’d like to volunteer.
