University of Illinois is investing a boatload of money into arts and humanities

With the inaugural Presidential Initiative to Celebrate the Impact of Arts and Humanities, put it place by President Killeen, close to $2 million is going to be distributed to 14 different projects across the three institutions in the U of I system.

Here in C-U, Krannert Art Museum will benefit with a grant to “develop new interpretive frameworks and complete collaborative reinstallation for the approximately 600-piece collection of ancient and colonial Andean art at the museum.” Other local projects include The Hip-Hop Express — “an internet-enabled school bus to be equipped as a multi-user music production and recording studio” as well as a creative writing initiative, an “Art of Medicine” collaboration, and several more.
