Urbana residents: You can submit a city council redistricting map

The 2020 census revealed that Urbana’s population decreased by about seven percent, which means they now need to come up with a new map of city council wards to ensure that they are balanced in terms of population. As part of this process, they are inviting members of the public to submit suggested maps.

Now, you can just get all crazy with it. There are guidelines that need to be followed. You have until February 15th to create a map proposal using website called Dave’s Redistricting (this title is hilarious to me for some reason) and submit it by emailing [email protected]. Maps that follow the guidelines will then go to the Urbana City Council for consideration.
