The Urbana Fire Department set to work this weekend, helping burglars identify homes from which residents are absent.
The department spent Saturday hanging bright red cardstock flyers on the front doors of houses where electronics, jewelry and loose change might be easily accessible.
The highly visible cards can be seen from the street, allowing burglars to assess target properties without drawing attention to themselves.
Residents of Urbana who believe their friends & neighbors may wish to avoid burglary are encouraged to remove the flyers from view, and drop them just inside the screen doors, like I did.
