Urbana Free Library acquires “almost half” of The News-Gazette‘s archives

The News-Gazette recently downsized from their building in Downtown Champaign to 201 Devonshire in Champaign. Because of constraints to their new space, a huge collection of N-G material has been acquired by Urbana Free Library for archival purposes.

Per Tom Kacich’s report, “Almost half of the published history of the 168-year-old News-Gazette now resides at the Urbana Free Library and eventually will be open to the public to browse and enjoy.”

Though I’d imagine it will take quite some time to go through the entire collection and sort it, soon enough the public will be able to access the collection.
