Urbana Public Arts offers grant money for arts education

Up to $3000 is available in grant funds for a project-based idea to bolster arts education: schools, community groups and organizations, artists, and artist teams are encouraged to apply. Proposals should be submitted by October 2nd, 2015 and finalists will be asked to submit more details by November 6th. Guidelines and the application package can be downloaded from the Arts Grants website

2013 recipients, Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School, used the funds to enhance civil rights lessons with art experiences by taking the students to see Preston Jackson’s sculpture, putting on an all-school assembly that involved every student in singing, viewing art, listening to guest speakers and playing guitars.

Arts in the Schools is a project-based arts education grant program by the Urbana Public Arts Program and Commission.
