If you want the best selection of holiday movies in Central Illinois, the Normal Theater is it. Beginning Thanksgiving weekend all the way through Christmas Eve, they are showing holiday-themed movies from the traditional (It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street) to the newer classics (Muppet Christmas Carol, Elf), to the oh yeah I guess these are holiday movies (Gremlins, Die Hard), to the obscure (Killer Racoons 2: Dark Christmas in the Dark).

They have most of our household’s regular watches in there, except for A Christmas Story. You can find the full schedule on the theater’s website — many of the films have multiple showings.

If you have kids and want to make a festive day of things, you can visit Santa’s Station in Uptown Normal. Take photos with Santa and hear live music in the train station. Find the schedule here. The festivies are free, but they will be taking donations for local non-profit organizations. There are also some great stores around there for doing some shopping.
