The U of I Pollinatarium is hosting a couple of workshops about how to build a hive, and you get to take home the hive you build (for the cost of the materials).
There are two separate Build A Hive Day workshops — one on Saturday, February 10th and one on Saturday, February 17th from 1:30 to 4 p.m. To sign up for the event and ensure there are enough materials for all participants, please email the Pollinatarium: [email protected].
This seems like a family-friendly event, but double check with the bee folks about the fine motor skills needed for building.
