Update: Champaign County Humane Society is doing adoptions by appointment

Update: Champaign County Humane Society will now be doing adoptions by appointment. From the Executive Director:

CCHS will resume animal adoptions by appointment, beginning Wednesday 3/25.  If you are interested in adopting a pet, please first view our available pets online and then call 217-344-7297 to make an appointment.

Please visit their website to see the guidelines they will be following in order to keep everyone safe. They advise you to search available pets online before you arrive, as you will not have time to just browse and see the animals while you are there.

With the latest order from the governor, Champaign County Humane Society will not be opening the shelter for visiting animals, even by appointment. Right now, they have no need for fosters for the animals; the staff is continuing to care for the animals. Should they need help, they have a list of foster families they will turn to first.  and they made this statement on Facebook this weekend:

We appreciate the concern for shelter animals that is being expressed by members of the C/U community on social media and through contact with CCHS by email and phone. Given the high-volume of inquiries coming in, and our need to focus all our energy on animal care and crisis-management at this time, we are asking the public to watch this space for news and updates.

The bonus of following them on Facebook? They are continuing to post adorable photos of their animals. If you want to help them out, check out their donate page or wishlist
