I truly love that this is an event that happens every year.

Purim celebrates the story of Esther, a Jewish queen who saved her people from a massacre, and Illini Hillel hosts a drag show each year to tell that story. You can read a bit of the background on that in our interview with a show organizer from a couple of years ago.

This year’s event will be at Canopy Club on Sunday, March 5th at 9 p.m. Advanced tickets are just $5, and can be purchased online (you’ll pay a couple bucks for processing fee), or with cash at Canopy Club, Manolo’s, or Illini Hillel. Tickets at the door are $9. All proceeds will be donated to Uniting Pride.

The Purim Drag Show is co-sponsored by LGBTJew and The Allen Fund of the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Endowment Foundation.
