A Sporting Publics Symposium is coming to the University of Illinois at the end of March

Hosted by the Humanities Research Institute and history professor Adrian Burgos Jr., “Sporting Publics: History, Sports, and American Culture” will feature Pulitzer Prize winning author David Maraniss as a keynote speaker, as well as several panel discussions with sports historians, about the “intersection of sports, activism, race and culture.” The symposium will take place March 28th and 29th. The keynote with Maraniss will kick off the two-day event at Alice Campbell Alumni Center at 7:30 p.m., with a book signing to follow. Here is the Friday schedule, from the press release:
