We are inching closer to the May 4th opening of Urbana’s weekly Market at the Square. Ahead of that, the City of Urbana seeks a new artist/designer to work on and plan a mural set for installation this June. The new ground mural is projected for the north row of the Urbana Farmer’s Market at Lincoln Square Mall. Artists are encouraged to highlight the singularity of Urbana’s active and energetic culture, with a focus on enriching the market’s themes.

A lively and committed group of community volunteers will be painting the mural. Artists are encouraged to think about color blocking and ways in which the communal nature of the project will enhance our beloved farmer’s market. The project will reflect the beauty and eclectic nature of Urbana’s Market at the Square.

The selected artist will collaborate with the City of Urbana‘s Arts & Culture Specialist and will receive a $5,000 honorarium for the completed design and installation of the work. Interested artists must apply by March 30th, 2024. Email [email protected] for more details.
