Allerton has a full month’s worth of holiday activities in December

If you are looking for some ways to get yo self in the holiday spirit, just head to Allerton’s website. They are offering a little something for everyone during the month of December. Here are a few highlights:

Holiday Showcase Opening Night, December 7th, 5 to 9 p.m., $8-10

Kick off the holiday season with a magical evening at Allerton! Your ticket includes access to all events listed below:

Take an enchanting stroll through illuminating lights and festive music on the Kirby Winter Wellness Walk and enjoy snacks and beverages from local food trucks or the Greenhouse Café located in the Visitor Center. Then, head to the Mansion to do some holiday shopping from local vendors at the Holiday Showcase.

Take a break from shopping and treat the kids to Natural Ornament-Making in the Carriage House with the Monticello Area Art’s Council anytime from 5-9 pm, where you can make an ornament for our courtyard tree and one to take home! Plus, don’t miss the chance to cuddle-up on a memorable carriage ride around the Estate with the Merrybeth Farm Carriage Service! (No advance reservations; cash only.)

A Holiday Affair, December 15th, 6 to 10 p.m., $80-90

Get in the holiday spirit with an elegant evening at the Allerton Mansion! Enjoy a “welcome” glass of champagne, a cocktail hour with cash bar, followed by dinner with complimentary wine. After dinner, head to the Grand Gallery for dessert, grab a drink, and enjoy the soothing sound of vintage holiday records. (Bring your own favorites for our DJ to spin!)

Make a night of it and stay overnight in the Mansion! Rooms in all buildings will be available for a discounted rate of $80/room for event attendees. To view guestrooms click here, and call 217-333-3287 for lodging information and reservations.

Cocktail attire is requested.

Feast of Juul, December 21st, 5 to 8 p.m., free (donations accepted)

Join us in the Allerton Meadow for a celebration of the December solstice! Warm up by the fire as we celebrate this Scandinavian tradition of burning the Juul log. Historically, a piece of the Juul log is kept as both a token of good luck and as kindling for the following year’s log. Be sure to also check out the Kirby Winter Wellness Walk! A cash bar and local food trucks will be available.
