Blake Wolters graduated from Mahomet-Seymour High School just a few months ago, and this week he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft. Wolters is the highest drafted high schooler in our area since 1997 when Jayson Werth was selected 22nd by the Baltimore Orioles. Wolters struck out over 100 batters last year with a 0.42 ERA and throws a fastball over 90 miles per hour. Prior to the draft he had committed to Arizona University.
