Brewing at the library: beer and books

Homebrewing is a hobby that has become so popular, people are even checking out books about it. Crazy, I know.

Seeing the uptick in interest, the folks at Champaign Public Library have decided to be a resource in more than just the usual way. It’s one thing to have a good selection of books about homebrewing, but sometimes you need a more interactive reference.

CPL is bringing that reference to you in the form of brewer-about-town, Philip Wilson, who will be on hand tomorrow night to talk, recommend, and answer questions about homebrewing. Wilson has been homebrewing since 2008, and has been a professional brewer at local breweries, such as J.T. Walker’s where he is currently.

The session will include a brief power-point presentation, but will mostly focus on the opportunity to pick the brain of an expert and discuss matters with other homebrewers. There will be equipment and ingredient examples, but unfortunately, no finished product.

Head over to meeting room “Robeson C” near the cafe in Champaign Public Library, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1st for Homebrewing 101
