As you are headed out on your grocery trips the next couple of weeks, maybe pick up some extra canned or other non-perishable items to give to the Busey Food Drive. This article from Feeding America has a pretty comprehensive list of good items to donate to things like this. Basically make sure items are shelf-stable, and don’t need refrigeration. Also don’t go digging in the back of your pantry to clean out expired items. If you aren’t eating it, other people don’t want to either.
You can drop off items at any Busey service center from now through November 17th. If you want an even easier way to help, you can shop right from their Amazon wish list and have items shipped.
The food you donate will be distributed to local food banks.
