C-U foodie Instagram accounts worth a follow

If you want to spice up your Instagram feed with Champaign-Urbana content, I have some foodie favorites to share with you.

Photo from Baldarotta’s Instagram.

Baldarotta’s posts photos of cut sammies like it’s their job. Sliced meatball smash sandwiches (pictured above), sliced coppa and clove, sliced Philly-style porketta sandwich, sliced pastrami, sliced drunken chicken, and more. Baldarotta’s makes these huge, meaty sandwiches on the regular, and if you follow their account, you’ll get an eyeful of sandwich cross-sections.

Cindervampirella is an Urbana instagrammer named Leigh who documents her tasty life baking cookies, lemon tarts, pavola, mini cherry pies, and an anniversary dinner with a homemade tomato tart and chocolate mousse as she continues to #stayhome. She has a bright, cheery feed that — even though it’s more than just food photos — is fun to follow.

Common Ground Co-op has some really good looking food photos and also informative posts about the grocery: weekly specials and item spotlights like a perfect avocado and pumpkin chai lattes. There’s also a few solid memes sprinkled throughout the feed.

Photo from SpicyMollyJanetCrunchroll Instagram.

Spicy Molly Janet Crunchroll features lots of beautiful photos taken of sushi from C-U restaurants like KoFusion, Moki, Sakanaya, Harvest Market, and more. Overhead shots of plates of sushi, takeout containers of sushi, and close-up photos of more sushi fill the feed. There’s no bio, but I’m assuming the account is run by C-U friends Molly and Janet who really like sushi.

Meyer Produce‘s account is full of inside looks at their farm. Molly Oberg, who owns and manages the farm with her husband Ben, posts pictures of the produce they grow, the renovation they’re working on, and two of the cutest doggos I’ve ever seen.

Photo from Prairie Fruits Farm’s Instagram.

Prairie Fruits Farm is worth a follow just for the adorable goat photos. How can you not love these goats? PFF also shares photos of their cheeses, specials, their farmers’ market stand, and some cute doggies.

Sugga Shaii Sweets has caramel turtles that are to die for, and her instagram is pretty great. Her cakes range from unicorn to Rubik’s Cube to a cake topped with a high heel. She shares photos of the dessert creations she makes like cupcakes with marijuana leaves and chocolate covered strawberries that spell some naughty things. She’s clearly talented, and I love seeing what she’s baking up next.

Photo from Ye Olde Donuts Shoppe’s Instagram.

Ye Olde Donut Shoppe is donut porn. From maple bacon bars to M&M donuts, their feed will make you hungry. I have been by the drive-through on Neil Street just because I saw a photo of a pink frosted donut that I needed pronto.

Of course, give Smile Politely a follow on instagram. Our Editor in Chief posts the top stories and photos from our website there, and the link for the articles is always in the bio.

Lastly, you can follow me on instagram. I’m super into tacos, sushi, burgers, and pad thai. I post photos from my articles, and anytime I get takeout from our C-U restaurants and coffee shops, I put it in my stories.
