The University of Illinois College of Fine and Applied Arts just announced that Dr. M. Cynthia Oliver will now serve as the Special Advisor to the Chancellor for Arts integration. While Dr. Amy L. Powell will serve as Curator of Campus Arts Research under Oliver’s direction. Oliver recently completed her 5 year term as Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation. In her new role she plans to integrate the arts into campus life by converting the many conversations on arts research, resources, and integration at the U of I into actionable programs and initiatives. Powell will transition into a 50% appointment as Curator. Her work, so far, has centered on bringing in artists, facilitating introductions to faculty and staff, and encouraging collaborations. You can read more about their vision for the program in this interview.
