For the second year, Champaign-Urbana Public Health District and Champaign Health Partnership, alongside Unit 4 School District and the Wayne McClain Pipeline Foster Grandparent Foundation and a host of community partners, will be hosting a Family Fun Day and Health Resource Fair. On Saturday, July 15th From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., families can show up to the CUPHD parking lot at 201 W Kenyon and get a lot of what they need to get their kids ready for the start of school, which is just over a month away.

Services available include:

  • Physicals, dental exams, vision screening
  • Food bank distribution
  • Giveaways from community resource tables
  • Free haircuts
  • Free backpacks, school supplies, and household items

Students who are registered for school in Unit 4, and have a physical scheduled, are eligible for free gym shoes while supplies last. Call 217-893-3052 or 217-356-7610 to register for shoe distribution.

The event will also include a ton of activities for the kids, so it’s not just about school stuff. There will be basketball drills from noon to 2 p.m., and a parent/child game from 2 to 3 p.m., as well as face painting, Kona Ice, music from DJ Slim, and more.

There are fliers with all of the information, in English, Spanish, and French, available on the CUPHD Facebook page.
