Tomorrow, May 23rd, the City of Urbana is launching a photography program called Urbana in Focus that invites community members to capture the essence of the city. If your image is selected, you may see in City of Urbana promotional materials, on their website, or on their social media channels.

They are looking for people to submit photos of events, people, Urbana landmarks, etc., and they can be taken with a fancy camera or your smartphone. They want images that “highlight Urbana’s charm, diversity, and spirit.” It’s summer, so there will be numerous opportunities to be out and about in the community. The program will restart monthly, with selections made on the last Wednesday of each month.

A few important notes:

  • Your photos should be at least 72 dpi
  • You can submit up to five within each 30 day period
  • Send your submissions to [email protected] (one photo per email) with the photographer’s name, contact information, a brief description of the photo, and the location where the photo was taken.

Find the full description of the program, and guidelines, at the City of Urbana website.
