Help shape a new queer community space coming to C-U

If you attended the Unapologetic and Disrespectful fundraiser for the Transgender Law Center at Rose Bowl last night, along with being dazzled by the performances and stunned by the generosity of our local community, you would have also heard a very special announcement. It seems a group is working together to finally (!) open a queer community space in Champaign-Urbana. As we’ve written several times before, our community has been in desperate need of a queer community space since the closing of the Chester Street Bar more than six years ago.

Matt Brown announced the formation of a group which is currently in the phase of gathering feedback and getting their paperwork in order. Now is your opportunity to provide feedback to help shape the space. You can fill out their online survey or you can send an email to [email protected].

A crowdfunding campaign will also be launched in coming months and we can’t wait to see how this project develops.
