Each year, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Countywide Celebration recognizes three individuals that have made a difference in the community; people who are continuing to advance the work that Dr. King began. Here are the three recipients for 2023:
- Dawn Mosley Blackman – James R. Burgess, Jr./Susan Freiburg Humanitarian Award
- Anthony B. Sullers Jr., Ph.D – Doris Hoskins Prestigious Community Service Award
- Rev. Terrance L. Thomas – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Outstanding Achievement Award
The celebration will take place January 15th, at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, beginning at 5 p.m. Doors will open at 4 p.m. Rev. Joel King, cousin of Dr. King, will be the keynote speaker.
