On Tuesday, after the remaining ballots were counted, the Champaign County Clerk and Recorder’s Office posted the results of the 2023 consolidated election. Out of 136,443 eligible voters, 19,187 people cast ballots. In this election, there were contested races for Champaign Mayor, Champaign City Council, and Unit 4 School Board, and Parkland Trustees.

The mayoral race was pretty much decided on election night, as Deb Feinen led with about 75 percent of the vote and held that margin throughout. She will be serving another term as Mayor of Champaign.

The Champaign City Council and Unit 4 School Board races were not fully decided until those final votes were tallied.

Will Kyles and Matthew Gladney will be returning for another term as at-large City Council members, and Kathy Shannon will be joining them as a new at-large member. Kyles edged out former City Council member Greg Stock by under 100 votes.

After a race that got a little spicy as political parties indicated support for certain candidates, voters in Champaign re-elected current School Board President Amy Armstrong, and chose Betsy Holder, Jamar Brown, and Mark Thies to join her on the board.

James Ayers, Carolyn Ragsdale, and Dana Trimble will be serving six year terms on the Parkland Board of Trustees, edging out Rhonda Littlefield.
