How to be a trusted adult: A webinar with RACES educators

As part of Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Rape Advocacy, Counseling, & Education Services (RACES) will be hosting a free webinar for parents and caretakers, “Being a Trusted Adult: Encouraging Boundaries, Consent, & Safety With Pre-K – 5th Grade Children”. RACES provides rape crisis services and prevention education in East Central Illinois.

This hour-long discussion will introduce parents and caregivers to the concepts we teach elementary-age students in our prevention programming, including trusted adults; boundaries; safe, unsafe, and unwanted touches; bodily autonomy; and communication. We’ll discuss ways of reinforcing these skills at home, talking to kids about body safety, and responding to disclosures of abuse. During the webinar, participants will have the opportunity to interact with facilitators and other community members through discussion and a Q & A session.

Please join us for one of our two sessions: Tuesday, April 28th from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., or Saturday, May 2nd from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
