Let’s discuss: Pekara’s Adriatic: Downtown Champaign’s best deli sando?

Let’s talk about this: Where can you get a really good sandwiches in Champaign-Urbana? Options are fairly limited — you can probably get them at a number of places around C-U: Common Ground, Pekara, Aroma, Cheese & Crackers, Bread Company, Strawberry Fields, to name a few. Obviously, there are more.

But what about deli sandos? Genuinely, I am curious. I’ll throw this out there because not only do I think this is a damn good one, but I want to learn about more options. I’m just one man, and I eat in Downtown Champaign fairly often.

Pekara’s Adriatic, as pictured above:

Pastrami, salami, provolone, Greek dressing, lettuce, tomato, all on Pekara’s bread. Although the bread is pretty crisp — this is the same type of situation you’d get at Cheese & Crackers, which serves Pekara bread as well. It is really good.

Where does your favorite exist?

Plus, they just installed this nice new chalkboard menu yesterday to replace the other one — looks sharp.
