Moms Demand Action will be honoring gun violence victims and survivors on Friday

Friday, June 4th is National Gun Violence Awareness day, also know as Wear Orange. It began in 2015 as a tribute to Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15, one week after performing at President Obama’s 2nd inaugural parade in 2013.

C-U Moms Demand Action will be holding a time of remembrance at Douglass Park at 5 p.m. Mayors Feinen and Marlin will be there to read their declaration designated June 4th, 2021 as Wear Orange Day. There will be speakers sharing their stories, and names of recent victims of gun violence will be read.

The small gathering will be held along Grove Street at the Gun Violence Survivor Garden. You can RSVP for the event here. Masks and distancing are required.
