Sinfonia da Camera’s 40th season comes to a close on March 23rd at Krannert Center’s Foellinger Great Hall with “From Ukraine to the Great Gate of Kiev.” The evening will include: Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, Victoria Vita Polevá’s Nova, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 (with Ian Hobson, soloist and conductor), and a new orchestration of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

According to the event page, the latter was “orchestrated by David Canfield, the world’s authority on all manifestations of this great work, as a tribute to Sinfonia da Camera in its 40th season.”

This will be your last opportunity to see the professional chamber orchestra until next fall.
