URBANA, Il.— After months of demolition and reconstruction, an open call to artists to paint the space’s walls, piles of paperwork and a successful Kickstarter campaign, Sipyard is finally ready to open.
On Thursday, Oct. 29 at 5 p.m., the Urbana Business Association will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for downtown Urbana’s new outdoor beer garden. A grand opening celebration will immediately follow. Admission to the ceremony is free and the public is encouraged to join in the festivities.
The outdoor space features gravel and boardwalk groundwork, dramatic murals on its walls and four large, bright red shipping containers—to be used as concession stands, covered seating and vendor stalls. Sipyard will focus on showcasing local businesses in its space—such as local breweries, food options and retailers.
Sipyard is located at 204 W. Main Street in Urbana, and its hours are Thursday and Friday, 4 p.m. to midnight, and Saturday noon to midnight. For more information, please visit www.sipyard.com
