Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie builds on ethos established by Summer Camp

Tara Gracer

Following the remarkable legacy of Summer Camp, the Midwest’s renowned music, arts, and culture festival, 2024 heralds the dawn of a new era with Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie. Set to captivate audiences at the picturesque Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois, Solshine will unfold its inaugural celebration from Friday, May 24th to Sunday, May 26th, with a special pre-party igniting the festivities on Thursday, May 23rd. Tickets for this eagerly anticipated event are already available, inviting attendees to immerse themselves in an evolved experience. Ian Goldberg, the visionary founder of both Summer Camp and Solshine, articulates the festival’s mission: “The spirit and community of Summer Camp will remain, but we are excited to again push boundaries…and expand the festival’s mission by bringing the Solshine to the forefront.” Solshine intends to be more than a festival; it aspires to be a dreamlike experience where music, art, and people come together. The intent is to motivate everyone to create their own special moments and to take that positive energy with them even after the festival ends.

Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie is not merely a successor to Summer Camp; it is a celebration of its two-decade heritage while simultaneously projecting a vision for the future. Retaining its core ethos, Solshine aims to build an inclusive and creative community centered around music, with an emphasis on sustainability and creating a positive impact. The festival will feature a diverse array of musical genres, from jam bands to electronic and rock, alongside workshops, food and craft vendors, and activities that echo the heart of Summer Camp. Iconic elements like The Illumination Woods and the SOULPATCH garden will continue to be focal points, promoting knowledge in permaculture and sustainability. As a testament to its commitment to community and continuity, Solshine will continue the tradition of hosting the event during the Memorial Day Weekend at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL — a locale synonymous with breathtaking natural beauty and a sense of communal belonging. With camping included in all tickets and options for VIP upgrades, RV, and car camping spots, attendees are in for an immersive experience that promises to be both nostalgic and novel, as they await the announcement of what promises to be an exhilarating lineup.
