The Virginia Theatre is showing the 2008 film Synecdoche, New York in December as part of their Arthouse Experience Film Series. Philip Seymour Hoffman stars in the psychological drama as theater director Caden Cotard who leaves his home in Schenectady, New York for New York City.

Following the film screening, there will be a showing of writer and director Charlie Kaufman’s Q&A discussion from the 2010 Ebertfest.

The Arthouse Experience Film Series screens one film each month. The series is curated by Sanford Hess, who selects films that are “a mix of award-winners, Ebertfest favorites, and recent classics.”
