The Main Scoop ice cream parlor will open today on Main Street in Downtown Urbana across from Sakura Japanese restaurant and Rick’s Bakery. This is the third location for the The Main Scoop. The original Mahomet location opened in 2021 and the second in Monticello this summer. The location will have grand opening specials and fun activities planned over the next few weeks.
The outside is decorated with The Main Scoop’s signature be-sprinkled pink ice cream drip, and the inside has seating tucked in the front window nooks, along the building’s original brick wall, and by the ice cream coolers.
The Urbana ice cream parlor will serve the same menu as the other locations. Likewise, gift cards can be redeemed at any of the three family-owned shops.
At all locations, The Main Scoop offers gourmet Capannari Ice Cream in all sorts of flavors including dairy-free options. On the menu at the Main Street shops, find ice cream flights, waffle cones, bowls and cups, pints to-go, and ice cream cakes.
Thursday’s cones won’t be the first ice cream The Main Scoop has scooped in C-U. This fall, The Main Scoop scooped ice cream at football games and at Huff Hall for volleyball games, too.
Additionally, the new shop has a collection of (brand-new) games for patrons. The Main Scoop in Urbana is open seven days a week and will stay open late on Friday and Saturday nights for after-dinner scoops.
