The organizers of Jettie Rhodes Day are hosting a vaccine clinic

Jettie Rhodes Neighborhood Day typically happens in June. Founded by the late Ms. Jettie Rhodes of Urbana, it’s an annual celebration with the aim of bringing people together to meet and serve their neighbors. Because of the uncertainty of the safety of large gatherings this summer, organizers have decided to cancel the 2021 event.

However, staying true to their mission, they are planning to host a vaccine clinic on Saturday, March 27th. They are partnering with C-U Public Health District, Urbana Park District, and the Urbana School District to make it happen, with a goal of getting those in underserved communities access to vaccines. They hope to vaccinate 400 people.

More details are still forthcoming. They will be looking for volunteers, as well as donations of supplies. Follow them on Facebook for more information, and to stay updated on ways to help. Contact Lashaunda Cunningham, Vice President of Jettie Rhodes Neighborhood Day, at [email protected] if you have questions.
