Thirsty Thursday on National Margarita Day? Let’s go. Downtown Urbana’s Tres Nopales has a margaritas flight of any four flavors: lime, peach, strawberry, mango, raspberry, blueberry, and piña colada — plus a choice of on the rocks or frozen.
For my flight of margaritas ($15.50), I chose raspberry on ice, frozen mango, frozen piña colada, and a classic lime margarita on the rocks. The raspberry one was pretty good, and the mango marg was excellent: sour and sweet with a smooth, softly frozen easy-drinking consistency. With the same not too thick sip, the piña colada tasted awesome. I loved its sweet coconut and strong tequila flavors with tropical pineapple on the finish. Lastly, the fresh lime marg had a deliciously tart citrus flavor and a tequila boom.
This margaritas flight is a fun way to try a sampling of flavors, but for those who like commitment, the restaurant also offers a tower of margarita, a mini tower of margarita, “monster crazy” margaritas, pitchers, half pitchers, grande, and jumbo versions in one flavor (on the rocks or frozen).
