Thirsty Thursday: Strawberry Bee’s Knees at Hamilton Walker’s

This Thursday, I’m thirsty for a cocktail. This pretty little number is the strawberry Bee’s Knees ($10) at Hamilton Walker’s. Besides offering steak and seafood, the restaurant has a great menu of classic cocktails. One of which is the Bee’s Knees (gin, fresh lemon, and honey), and they offer a tasty, off-menu twist to the classic cocktail by adding strawberry liqueur. This gin drink still sips tart like a typical Bee’s Knees cocktail, but the fruity strawberry makes it sweeter and tastes delicious with honey and lemon.

Quite strong, I recommend drinking this beverage slowly. Perhaps pair a strawberry Bee’s Knees with the Restaurant Week tasting menu here (only available through Saturday, February 3rd). Or go wild and enjoy it alongside a bowl of Hamilton Walker’s yummy macaroni. The Bee’s Knees can also be made with blueberry liqueur if strawberry isn’t your jam.

The steakhouse is located on the corner of Neil and Park Streets in Downtown Champaign, and it’s kind of fun to look over a martini glass and take in views of passing cars and pedestrians — feels like city life.
