Champaign’s Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery took home three medals from this year’s American Cheese Society 2023 nationwide cheese competition. The creamery‘s moonglo, a goat milk semi-hard cheese, won second place in the Farmstead Cheese category, and Prairie Fruits Farm’s feta and chevre both won third place. It’s not the first time the farm has won awards (here, here), and I bet it won’t be the last.
Last week, I included the creamery’s feta cheese in July’s Five things to eat article because it is absolutely delicious, and that feta is first place in my heart.
If you haven’t tasted these three nationally award-winning cheeses, get to Urbana’s Market at the Square on Saturday mornings, visit the farm’s store to buy some cheese (and maybe some gelato, too), or order online. For more about the farm, read Matt’s interview with the owner Leslie Cooperband, and check out cute baby goat content here, here, and here.
