Three questions with Dakota Danielle

The individual in the photo is wearing a black leather jacket over a light-colored shirt. They are seated against a backdrop of rich blue drapery and are positioned near a yellow-toned bench, with their hand gently touching their hair. A dimly lit ambiance is conveyed by soft lighting, and a wine glass sits on a table in the background, suggesting a sophisticated setting.

Dakota Danielle, performer of the hit song “One Church” and a rising country music artist, responded to our query consisting of three quirky questions this week. You can catch her this Thursday at the Americana Happy Hour at Rose Bowl Tavern.

Smile Politely: If you could write a song that becomes the official anthem for your hometown of Teutopolis, what would its title be, and can you share a sneak peek of its chorus with us?

Dakota Danielle: I have written the anthem for my hometown of Teutopolis! It’s my song “One Church 3 Bar Town”:

One way in, One way out
Way too much to talk about
This ain’t your typical small town in the Bible Belt
We work all week to make ends meet
Take the time to relax and drink
We praise the Lord on Sunday’s
Then throw it down
In this one church 3 bar town

One Church 3 Bar Town by Dakota Danielle

SP: Given your diverse influences from Dolly Parton to Aretha Franklin, if you could host a dream dinner party with any three musicians, living or deceased, who would make the guest list, and what would be the one question or topic you would want the group to discuss at dinner?

Danielle: If I could host a dream dinner party with three musicians it would be: Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, and Stevie Nicks. At dinner, I would just want to discuss stories of their musical careers. Ask them for their best advice.

SP: If “One Church” had a sequel song that explored another aspect of small-town life, what would its title be, and what story or message would you want to convey through it?

Danielle: I feel like my song “Small Town Talk” is a good sequel song. It’s about how gossip goes around fast in a small town.
