If you have noticed an increase in tango coverage here at Smile Politely, it’s because I’m a big fan and there are a lot of tango events in Champaign-Urbana. One new option is now available for both veteran dancers and those who are interested in learning a step or two: Kohinoor is going to be offering space for tango dancers and music lovers alike on Wednesday nights.
Kohinoor is one my absolute favorite restaurants in C-U; I ordered from them for my recent graduation dinner, and it was even named one of SP‘s BEST new restaurants of the decade, so it goes without saying I am beyond excited for this new collaboration with the C-U tango community. If you have been curious about learning tango, but perhaps a bit intimidated to go to a tango-centered event, this may be the perfect opportunity. Go, enjoy some food, listen to some tango music, and if the inspiration strikes, hit the dance floor.
