Feast your eyes on these golden balls of rice. Made with creamy saffron risotto, ground veal, diced carrots, softened celery, and peas, these arancini are from Baldarotta’s Porketta & Sicilian Sausage, the sandwich shop in Lincoln Square Mall.

I ordered two arancini ($6 each) for lunch the other day, and they were freaking amazing.

Sprinkled with grated Parm and chopped herbs, the seasoned exterior had a crispy crunch and held its spherical shape as I ate. The veal and veggie ragu center had such delicious flavors, and I loved every single bite. When the arancini are on special, it’s worth mixing up your sandwich game to eat it.

This Sicilian street food harkens back to Baldarotta’s roots. Arancini is one of the menu items Baldarotta’s served for their pop-up at Sipyard back in 2017. It’s fun to see the sandwich shop and gelateria expand their menu to offer even more dishes that show off the chefs’ talents.
