Last month, United Way of Champaign County announced that they would be partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that puts free books in the hands of kids five and under. Now, on the occasion of Parton’s 78th birthday, they will be hosting a party at Anthem to raise money for the library.

United Way’s Emerging Community Leaders are inviting people to Anthem for a happy hour from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on January 19th. Tickets are $26, and they include appetizers, a welcome drink, live music from Kayla Brown, and birthday cake and a champagne toast at 6:30 p.m.

An important note, Ms. Parton will NOT actually be there. I’m guessing the tickets might cost a bit more if that was the case. However, that $26 will provide a year’s worth of books from the Imagination Library for a kiddo in C-U, and as of early December, 1600 kids were signed up for the program.

You are strongly encouraged to get your ticket in advance, and you can do that here.
