Cowboy Monkey announced on Instagram today that the restaurant and bar will be closing for the rest of 2023. The last day of Cowboy as we know it will be this upcoming Sunday, November 5th. The restaurant and bar plans to reopen next year with new concepts in a renovated space.

Cowboy Monkey has been a beloved Downtown Champaign spot for a long time, and the restaurant serves a good brunch of Tex-Mex eats — plus mimosa flights. Check out the food and drink menus online.

Change is nothing new for the space. In 2017, Cowboy Monkey got a new look, and later in 2019, the business closed to rebrand as a full service restaurant. In 2020, Cowboy welcomed Aroma Cafe into the space for morning coffee and cake, but the cafe has since closed for good. While the bar is closed for renovations, Cowboy’s Tuesday taco special will be available next door at Guido’s Bar & Grill.
