Learn about the Morrow Plots with the University Library

One of the first things I learned about in my orientation process at the University of Illinois, was the Morrow Plots. Now, my knowledge is sort of limited to what was imparted to me by The Other Guys acapella group through their Morrow Plots song. Basically I know that it’s second-oldest agricultural experiment in the world (and the largest in the U.S.), and the Undergraduate Library (soon to be Archives and Special Collections) is underground so as not to “throw shade on the corn.”

Well it turns out, there is a lot more to know about what that experimental plot has been doing for the past 100 years. This Thursday, August 24th, the University Library is hosting a lunchtime online presentation from 12 to 1 p.m. featuring people from the University Library, University Archives, and Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) IT, as well as the scientists who maintain the plots. You will “see some of the most fascinating historical records documenting the plots and learn why this enduring experiment at the heart of campus is still scientifically significant today.”

You will need to register here to receive the Zoom link.
